With the Online retail industry to reach Rs 7000 cr by 2015' as mentioned by Indian Express in one of their articles, it's hard not to miss out the action that is happening online.

When you search on Google, what you get to see is the number of online retail websites that have sprung up and they are in your face and making the end user go to the website to purchase something. Whether you sell products online or have a one-page website, there are many ways to generate more in-store traffic from your online presence. These internet marketing tips below will help you increase your exposure online.

Website - That is your window to the world of opportunities and you must make sure to keep the customer online for more than 30 seconds. You should update your homepage more often to keep a fresh look that coincides with the time of year or specific event, this fresh look can also be achieved by creating designated landing pages to promote a call to action relevant to the time of year and festival. Create clickable sale items in an eye-catching design placed above the fold to persuade customers to take a look (click).

Branding - Branding is very important because it marks your company's image in the mind of the consumer. If your branding efforts are successful, a consumer will remember your brand when it is time to make a purchase. For branding your company online make sure you have a great logo design and a great website that clearly depicts what kind of products and services you represent. Think about how you want your visitors to feel when they arrive at your site. What products do you sell? Create a feel for the quality of your products, and think about what type of customers you are selling to?

Press Release - One of the fastest ways to spread word about your store, and products or services, is by sending a press release. Media thrive on press releases every day. The abundance of online news distribution services is now making it easier than ever for retailers to announce new product lines, special events and other shop news.

Go Social - This is one of the key elements that online retail must tap into, social media sites are useful for branding.

On Facebook, create a fan page for your company to post updates about new inventory and sales. Spend time on these sites and build a following, get to know other users and interact with them. To bring new visitors to your site, and create a buzz for your store come up with a cool trick like a contest or decide to give something away; then use the social sites to promote your campaign.

Twitter is also a great example of this. Twitter allows you to upload your own background image. Get creative and customize a background not forgetting to display your web address and contact information

Giveaways - They too are a great way of generating buzz and great for viral marketing, if you offer giveaways on radio and ads, you will have hoards of people visiting your store and improving your purchase quotient.

YouTube yourself - Create your own commercials and upload them on YouTube, this is one of the newest techniques to get onto in 2012 as video marketing has gone up the charts. Video marketing online allows a retailer to extend the reach of their message to a larger audience for little investment. After loading the video on YouTube, use social media and bookmarking sites to further spread the word around the web.
