Supply Chain as a strategic weapon for food and beverage in volatile times
CSC
The food and beverage segment tends to be a master of supply chain evidenced by the fact that seven of the Top 25 Supply Chains, according to AMR Research, are food, beverage and grocery retailers. They include Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Publix, Royal Ahold, Tesco and Wal-Mart. Further, Publix Supermarkets, a grocery retailer dominating the Florida market, made the Business Week list of top 25 customer service champions. Lessons can be learned from what these leaders are doing - keeping a lid on costs and using supply chain as a tool for finding hidden values that elude other participants across the extended enterprises that represent the global food and beverage and grocery retail industries. Now is the time for participants across this extended supply chain to re-examine end-to-end processes and costs.
