Despite hindrances, a small group of retailers have managed to steadily and forcefully improve their performance over time gaining market share from competitors and delivering above-average financial results, despite constantly shifting economic conditions, regulations and consumer demographics. What these champions have in common is an ability to adapt purposefully and continuosuly to change in their markets and competitive environments. Their outstanding success has widened the gap between them and their competitors.
