Trends in Interactive Merchandising Applications
Interactive Edge
Over the last several years, retailers and manufacturers have been placing increasing importance and emphasis on in-store marketing and merchandising. The decline in effectiveness of traditional marketing since the mid-1990s and the increased competition between retailers and channels have been sited as factors in driving the trend. In October 2002, Willard Bishop Consulting noted: Consumers make 70% of all purchase decisions while in the store shopping. That is the Number One Reason why the store is the new platform for brand marketing. As the pressure to deliver effective in-store merchandising solutions increases, so does the need to develop state-of-the-art merchandising software capable of communicating, strategizing, visualizing and planning such solutions.
